About Us

Dubai, United Arab Emirates
We are two sisters who have started this blogs to inspire and help Indians like us suddenly finding themselves in a sea of fashion conscious beauties while starting their life abroad..We used to consider ourselves very fashionable in India...but when you are trying to fit in a fashionable group abroad, we found that there is difference in the way that we translate fashion....Kudos to those who are already there..for those struggling with their fashion choices, hopefully we can help... One of us is also a mom, so we will also include some ideas for moms who cannot spend hours putting an outfit together..

Splurge or Save?

When it comes to makeup, there are just so many options out there...some of us are on a budget....some of us are not...well for those of you on a budget, I decided to do a post classifying makeup products based on whether you need to invest in high end brands or enjoy interestingly priced options..

*I use the term "drugstore" to refer to lower priced brands simply because it is more widely known that way though it might not make too much sense in Dubai.

so here it goes..

1.Face and eye makeup primer:
Since this determines the staying power of your entire makeup...I would definitely suggest going in for high end brands:

Favourites: Smashbox photofinish & Makeup forever HD primer for face ( both available in Galerie   Lafayette )
Urban Decay primer potion and Too Faced shadow insurance for eyes ( available in Sephora )

2.Foundation:
A lot of interesting options out there: Rimmel, Revlon Colorstay, Maybelline, etc ( go straight to Centerpoint Lifestyle )

3. Concealer:
Depending on how much concealing you need, I would go with high end if you need heavy coverage and drugstore if you don't. Makeup Forever makes some of the best concealers.

4. Bronzer:
Prestige cosmetics make beautiful bronzers...if you don't mind spending more money, a lot of high end brands are also good

5.Blush:
You can definitely save here..a lot of beautiful colors by NYX, Rimmel, etc..

7.Highlight:
I would definitely invest here.

6.Eyeshadows:
Since you have laid the foundation using a heavy duty pimer, you can use pretty much any eyeshadow...NYX has a huge range...

7.Eyeliner:
Fantastic drugstore options out there.

8.Mascara:
I haven't tried too many drugstore alternatives except L'oreal...which is fantastsic.

9.Lipliner:
It might be a good idea to invest in one high end lipliner...like a neutral muted pink brown to go with all your lipsticks...mainly because of the staying power ..

You can check out drugstore options if you are not in need of too much definition.

10.Lipstick and Lipgloss:
Lots and lots of amazing drugstore lip products out there..
